1. You Can Watch The Flames Of A New Year

It’s always great to be able to watch the new year in! If you don’t have a fireplace, try getting some friends together and popping open some bottles of champagne. But if you do have a fireplace? Well, then it just gets even better!

A fire is also a fantastic way to relax and unwind as well as being an excellent way to start your New Year’s Eve festivities with good company (and maybe one or two glasses of bubbly).

Electric fireplaces are a great way to elevate the style and coziness of any home. Take a look at our list of The Top 12 Electric Fireplaces for a cozy and stylish home that will inspire you to upgrade your living space.

2. It Will Keep Your Home Warm

Fireplaces are great for heating a room. They can heat up a room quickly and more efficiently than space heaters or electric heaters. A fireplace can also be used to heat your entire home, so you won’t have to depend on a furnace when the temperatures drop below freezing outside.

3. The Flames Are Mesmerizing To Watch

There is something about watching a fire that makes you feel like you’re in a warm, cozy place. The flames are mesmerizing to watch on a cold winter’s night and can help you relax after a long day at work or school.

4. You’ll Be Comfy As You Ring In The New Year

If you’re planning on hosting a New Year’s party in your home, a fireplace is an essential addition that will make everyone feel comfortable and cozy.

Simply having one in the living room makes it inviting for guests to sit down for some time with each other and enjoy their first sip of champagne as they count down to midnight.

  • You’ll be able to sit down on the couch with a blanket or sweater handy so you can keep warm if need be.
  • Make sure there are glasses of wine or champagne ready to toast the new year! I recommend keeping them within reach so guests don’t have to go far from the couch if they need another drink.
  • Have snacks at hand—this way, when people get hungry after all their excitement over ringing in 2019, they can grab something quick instead of waiting on another round of hors d’oeuvres from outside sources (which tends not work out well).

Decorating the fireplace wall can seem daunting, but with the right inspiration, it can be a fun and rewarding project. See our article on How to Decorate the Fireplace Wall for tips on how to create a beautiful and functional fireplace feature wall.

5. It Can Heat Up The Whole House

First of all, you should know that a fireplace is not going to heat up the whole house. It’s great at heating a single room, but if you want to heat your entire home with a fireplace, you’re going to need additional methods of heating (like a furnace or central heating system).

If you only have one room in which to host your New Year’s Eve party this year, though, there’s no reason why it can’t be lit by the glow of your fireplace!

Just be sure that everyone stays out of its way while they’re enjoying themselves; while fireplaces have been used for centuries and are generally quite safe (as long as there’s no risk of overfilling them), it’s always best to err on the side of caution when dealing with flames.

  • Ensure the damper is closed properly when not using the fireplace to prevent heat loss.

6. It’s A Great Way To Use Leftover Christmas Trees

Do you have that tree that’s been sitting in the corner of your living room, waiting for it to be picked up by the city? Why don’t you use it as kindling?

Cut off the bottom branches and pop them in your fireplace where they will burn slowly throughout the night, keeping your space warm as they do so.

Be sure not only to extinguish all flames when bedtime arrives but also take care with how much space you leave around any kindling a fire can get out of control very quickly if left unattended!

7. A Fireplace Is Like A Giant Candle

The fireplace is a source of light and warmth, like a giant candle. It emits heat, which you can feel when you’re near it.

The fire has a flame that flickers and dances above the logs. The flames are mesmerizing to watch as they dance in their natural setting—the perfect ending to your night spent celebrating with friends!

8. You Can Roast Marshmallows

Whether you’re a kid or an adult, roasting marshmallows is one of the most fun things to do when you have a fire.

Some people like to roast them over an open flame while others prefer to use a fork and skewer method. Either way, it’s a tasty way to enjoy your favorite treats!

If you want to take things up a notch and make s’mores, this is how you do it:

  • Cut off the top of your chocolate bar so that it’s flat on both sides of the wrapper.
  • Break apart graham crackers into squares or rectangles (whatever shape they come in).
  • Place one square on each side of your foil lined baking sheet; this will help keep everything together as well as provide structure for when everything melts together during baking time (and later eating time).

Place three-fourths inch chunks of buttery goodness onto each square piece until those squares are full but not overflowing beyond their boundaries (you can always add more later if needed!). Now comes arguably my favorite part – melting chocolate!

If using milk chocolate chips (which I highly recommend), sprinkle two tablespoons worth over each piece before sprinkling about half tablespoon worth onto another square piece next door which should then be laid down atop said piece until all four quarters have been covered evenly with delicious melted goodness.

9. You Can Eat S’mores, Too

Whether you’re roasting marshmallows or not, it’s hard not to feel like a kid again when you’re around a fire.

And while s’mores are often thought of as being best suited for campfires, they can also be made in your fireplace.

If you don’t want to go through the trouble of roasting your own marshmallows (or if it’s too cold outside), store-bought ones will do the trick just fine—just make sure that they’re vegan-friendly!

Fireplaces add a focal point to any room, and they’re great for adding ambiance to your home. Fireplaces can be built into the wall or stand alone, and come in all shapes and sizes—from small to large.

They’re a fun way to inject something different into your design plan, if you’re looking for an easy way to spruce up your space.

11. Makes For A Good Selfie

When you’ve got a fireplace in your home, it’s the perfect opportunity to capture the moment with a selfie. Whether it be with your friends or family, pets or decorations—a fireplace is the ultimate prop for any selfie. And if you need some ideas for what kind of photos to take, here are some suggestions:

  • Group shot of everyone gathered around the fire
  • Family shot with all the kids looking at their parents (or vice versa)
  • Individual shots of each person as they lean on either side of the fireplace

Investing in an electric fireplace provides aesthetic, functional, and financial benefits to your home. See our article on How Electric Fireplaces Can Save You Money and Improve Your Home to see how electric fireplaces can level up your space while also saving you money in the long run.

12. And An Even Better Photo Opp With Friends And Decor!

A fireplace is a great way to add some holiday warmth and charm to your home, but it also makes for an even better photo opp with friends and decor!

Take advantage of the cozy glow of the firelight and make sure to add in some Christmas lights, candles or other decorations that you can use as props.

Whether it’s a cute little tree branch or family photos around the mantel, there are plenty of ways you can create beautiful photos with your fireplace this season.

13. Snuggling Up Next To The Fireplace Is A Perfect Way To Pass The Time Until Midnight

There’s nothing like curling up on an armchair with your loved ones and a good book, especially when there are fireplaces involved. If you’re lucky enough to have access to one, and even luckier if it’s cold outside, then consider doing this for New Year’s Eve!

You’ll get some quality time with friends or family while waiting for midnight and beyond (and have something fun to do after).

While there are many ways to occupy yourselves in front of a fireplace from snuggling under blankets with hot chocolate or tea, playing games like cards and charades, watching movies there’s also plenty of room for creativity:

Try making s’mores by roasting marshmallows over an open flame; roasting potatoes in between two metal skewers directly over the fire; or grilling vegetables such as tomatoes or zucchini slices thin enough so they don’t burn before they’re cooked through (but not too thin so they still retain their shape).

There are also other activities that you can do while sitting around at home just waiting for 2023!

FAQs

How do electric fireplaces work?

Electric fireplaces operate by heating up metal coils that transfer heat to the surrounding air and emit light that simulates a real flame. They are powered by electricity and do not require any wood or gas to operate, making them a convenient and low-maintenance option for homeowners.

How do you clean a fireplace?

To clean a fireplace, you should first remove any large debris, such as ash and soot, using a shovel and brush. Then, scrub the inside of the fireplace with a mixture of warm water and soap. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry before using it again. For a more thorough cleaning, you can use a professional chimney sweep service.

Are electric fireplaces energy-efficient?

Yes, electric fireplaces are generally considered to be energy-efficient. They only heat the room they are installed in, so there is no heat loss as with a traditional fireplace. They also do not require any venting, which can cause heat loss with a gas fireplace.

What is the best type of fuel for a fireplace?

The best type of fuel for a fireplace depends on personal preference, budget, and other factors. Wood-burning fireplaces are traditional and provide a natural, authentic flame and ambiance. Gas fireplaces are more convenient and often come with remote control operation. Electric fireplaces are also popular due to their energy efficiency and low maintenance.

How often should I have my chimney inspected?

Chimneys should be inspected at least once a year, with any necessary cleaning or repairs completed before use to prevent fire hazards. It is important to have a professional chimney sweep inspect your chimney to ensure its proper functioning and to identify and fix any potential issues.
